Q. COULD MORE FINANCIAL CENTRES BENEFIT FROM BEING COOPERATIVES?
ยป Everyone could benefit from more access to cooperative financial services. The model creates a direct connection between ownership and purpose; the institution exists to serve its members and can orient decisions around their long-term financial well-being.
Because credit unions are memberowned and not-for-profit, value can be returned to members through better rates and lower fees that directly improve financial outcomes. As a member owned organisation, we consider our community our foundation. We need to support and partner with the communities we serve to create lasting relationships that advance financial well-being and access.
Even institutions with a different ownership model can learn from cooperative principles, particularly the emphasis on long-term relationships, shared accountability and collaboration.
