From Fragmentation to Foresight: How GC & C Is Building a Data‐Powered Business with Fincons
“ Insight, not intuition, is becoming our standard for decision‐making. Our Data 3.0 programme marks a decisive shift in how we manage, govern and use data. It is not simply a technology upgrade, but a rethink of how we access, understand and apply information.”
Matthew Richardson, GC & C Global Head of Operations & IT
The Challenge: Creating Clarity in a Federated Landscape
Generali Global Corporate & Commercial operates in a federated model: pre‐bind activities run on central applications, while post‐bind processes sit with local systems. This highlights the opportunity to better integrate data, align definitions, and streamline reconciliation activities.
We recognized an opportunity to reinforce our foundation so we could continue advancing effectively, ensuring robust global steering and sustained excellence at local level.
To achieve this, we partnered with Fincons, an international IT business consultancy and system integrator. Their expertise in data management and data governance is central to ensuring we build an advanced platform that is robust, scalable and fit for the future.
The Vision: A Business Powered by Reliable, Accessible Data
Our ambition is to build an environment where reliable, well‐governed data is available to everyone who needs it. Thus, we are creating a“ glocal” ecosystem where global teams gain the coverage and quality required for steering, while local teams retain the autonomy to enrich and extend data for their specific needs.
Our programme is built on three pillars:
People: equipping colleagues to confidently explore and use data. Self‐service tools, clear ownership models and hands‐on training ensure that data becomes a shared business asset.
Process: reshaping governance to provide clarity on data ownership, accountability and quality, ensuring that what we deliver is both consistent and relevant.
Platform: building a next‐generation data platform that allows us to bring together structured and unstructured data, streamline ingestion and transformation, and support AI‐enabled insights. With Fincons’ support, we are ensuring the platform is engineered with the right architecture, domain expertise and long‐term sustainability.
